Traci, Courtney, and Chasstity presented at the 2009 PCSAO Conference in front of a packed conference room.

On September 10, 2009, three Athens County youth presented at the 2009 PCSAO Annual Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin, Ohio. The youth were part of a two hour workshop, with an audience from across the state. The workshop allowed the youth to talk about their experiences in foster care, and to provide their suggestions for best practices. The youth were able to answer questions, and give the audience feedback to take back to their respective jobs.

ACTION youth Chasstity Young was elected as an officer. She will play an important role in documenting the work of the OHIO YAB group. Chasstity will soon meet with the officers for an all day summit.

On February 20, 2009, two of our youth were elected to positions in the Statewide Youth Advisory Board OHIO (Overcoming Hurdles In Ohio). This is a huge opportunity to have the needs and voices of Southeast Ohio foster youth represented at a state level. This will also allow our youth to participate in various trainings, panels, and conferences throughout the state, and possibly the country.

Elizabeth was elected parliamentarian. Elizabeth has been attending the YAB meetings for two years, and has run for offices in the past. Elizabeth's energy and hard work have finally paid off.

Traci was elected as treasurer for YAB. This was Traci's first meeting. She prepared a great speech and presented in front of people she had never met before.

Both Elizabeth and Traci attended the 2nd Annual IL Summit in October, and are also founding members of the our local youth advisory board, ACTION (Athens County Together In Overcoming Negatives).

Four ACTION youth will be attending the Ohio Independent Living Summit in Columbus, Ohio on October 3rd and October 4th.

ACTION members will be presenting to the agency's supervisor on October 15, 2008 to give their recommendations for overnight approval.

OHILA and OHIO YAB Meetings on October 16th.

A HUGE presentation to the agency board on October 20th, to discuss the mission statement and objectives.

Statehouse Rally
